Wanda’s evolution beyond science and into the world of business started with forming her own consulting company in 2007-2008.  During this time she worked with a nanotechnology startup company in South Dakota.  Since that time she has interacted with several Chicago area greentech companies.

She has expertise in chemistry, optical sensors, biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals and horticulture and was awarded a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship.  Her work at the National Institutes of Standards and Technology on chaperone proteins transitioned her into the biotechnology field.  Subsequently, she worked for four years investigating the stability of monoclonal antibodies at the National Cancer Institute.  In 2007 she became interested in sustainability while developing green tests for plants and succeeded in finding a more environmentally friendly assay.

Her interest in green technology has led to pursuing an MBA from DePaul in addition to her Ph.D. in chemistry from Michigan State University.  Her recent work as part of the Waste to Profit Network at the Chicago Manufacturing Center has helped her to bridge the gap between science, business and policy.
